Description

Circa 1800. Continuous SW facing range of 2-storey, 3-bay

brewer's house and 3-storey, 6-bay brewery, with same roof

height; brewery gable end to Riverside Place with

2-storey single bay return elevation flanking entrance

to former hollow square. Further single and 2-storey

truncated range flanks Riverside Place entrance, the

SE portion (23 Riverside Place) being restored and rendered.

Elsewhere harl pointed pinned rubble. No 22 Manson's Lane;

centre door; 1st floor windows in outer bays only; single

ground and 1st floor windows in return NW elevation; end

and ridge stacks; No 24 Manson's Lane; mainly regular

fenestration with smaller windows in ground and 2nd floors. 2

entrances in upper end of building close to brewer's house;

symmetrical fenestration in 1st and 2nd floors of gable end,

blocked door at base with later inserted window. Large

door slapped in return wing. Remains of forestair at rear.

Crowstepped gables; mainly corrugated iron roofs, though

some Caithness slating survives on Riverside Place

elevations.
