Description
The Church of Scotland church at Stromeferry was built in 1888-9 by David Mackintosh. It is a simple, rectangular building of four bays, constructed from rubble with ashlar margins. Lancet windows are located on the flanks, a rose window adorns the west gable, and a three-light window is positioned at the east end; all windows feature geometrically patterned coloured leaded glass. A gabled porch, with a simple cross finial, is situated at the east end of the north wall, and it contains a double leafed door within a lancet opening. The roof is slate, with ashlar skews and a small apex stack on the west gable.
The interior features exposed rubble walls. The panelled pulpit is not original and shows influences of J J Burnet. A feu charter was granted in 1889, and the church and surrounding land were sold in 1989. It is important to distinguish this building from the near contemporary former Free Church located to the north.
