Description
The Old Manse and Service Cottage are a building of primarily later 18th-century origin, though significantly altered with extensions. The north facade presents as two storeys and three bays, with a harled exterior and contrasting painted tooled ashlar margins. The original south frontage is three bays, with a central doorway now largely obscured by a later 19th-century, two-storey, asymmetrical wing. A new entrance is located within a shallow, projecting square porch in the southwest re-entrant angle. The windows are mostly 12-pane sashes, and two original piended dormers are found in the earlier part of the house. Corniced end stacks are visible, along with later 19th-century roof skewes and skewputts above the gables, all beneath a slate roof.
A single-storey, three-bay service cottage adjoins the east gable at a right angle, with a later doorway added to the rear elevation. A long, low, single-storey, buttressed L-plan steading, incorporating a gighouse, stands nearby, also harled and with a slate roof.
The former Church of Scotland Manse Garden borders an old graveyard, the historic site of an earlier parish church. A plan of the manse, dated 1826, is held within the National Library of Scotland, Sutherland Papers.
