Earls Cross House, Earls Cross Road, Dornoch

Earls Cross House is an early 20th century Arts and Crafts style, sprawling two-storey house with an attic. The exterior is harled, featuring ashlar cills and chimney copes. The south front is asymmetrical with three bays, including a recessed central bay that has a hooded entrance flanked by small windows. On the ground floor, there is a rectangular bay window in the right outer bay and a square oriel window in the left bay on the first floor. The wide east elevation, which overlooks the sea, has a canted bay window that extends the full height of the house, along with various small canted oriel windows. There are two piended dormers and a single similar dormer on the rear (west) side. The glazing is varied throughout the building. At the rear, there is a small service court that is screened by a coped wall with a round-headed doorway on the south side. The house features tall coped stacks and a roof made of Caithness slate.
