Description
Stenscholl Parish Church is an 1828 church designed by Thomas Telford, with repairs carried out by William Laurie in 1856. Constructed of coursed rubble with tooled dressings, the entire building is whitewashed. The church is arranged in a T-plan, presenting a four-bay front elevation to the north. It features two round-headed windows centrally, flanking round-headed doorways, with rear windows mirroring the front design. All windows are Gothic style with two lights and lattice pane glazing. A birdcage belfry sits atop the west gable apex, and a stone finial marks the east gable apex. The roof is slate.
Inside, the original pulpit and sounding board remain, along with plain pine pews. The church is an ecclesiastical building currently in use as such. Its unusual orientation links it to other "Parliamentary Churches", such as Hallin (Duirinish) and Plockton (Lochalsh).
