Description
This is a mid-to-late 18th century house, with later additions, located near Achentoul. The original house is a two-story, three-bay structure facing west. It has a gabled central bay topped with a stack. The windows are small and arranged symmetrically, although one ground floor window on the right has been enlarged. The main entrance is now at the rear, partially hidden by a later kitchen extension.
A two-story, two-bay wing extends from the south gable, with another entrance in the right bay, concealed by a gabled rubble porch. Most windows have 12 panes of glass. All gables are crowstepped and feature paired coped diagonal stacks on broad bases. The roofs are slate. A single window pane in the ground floor of the south wing is dated October 1850. A small lobby cupboard within the kitchen extension contains a fragment of reused mid-18th century panelling. The building appeared as Achintoul Inn on the first edition Ordnance Survey map from 1872.
