Description
The farmhouse at Mains of Kilcoy dates from the earlier 19th century and is harled with ashlar margins and angle strips. It is two storeys and an attic in height, with three bays. A central door is sheltered by a later timber and glass gabled porch, and the windows on the left-hand side are tripartite. The roof is slated, with two canted dormers. A single-storey wing is attached to the rear.
Changes including the canted dormers, the rear wing, and the tripartite windows were made in 1880, likely by Alexander Ross, as evidenced by an advertisement for tenders in the Inverness Courier of 15 April 1880. Original plans are held at Register House under reference numbers 12721 and 12722.
