Description
West Wing, West Canisbay is a house dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure with single-storey, two-bay wings on either side, all facing south. At the rear, there is a two-storey, three-bay wing that projects, which was added around 1835.
The exterior is harled with ashlar and rendered margins. The front is symmetrical with three bays, where the former central door has been converted into a window. There are entrances in a simple porch on the right wing and in a glazed porch located in the northwest re-entrant angle, both of which date from 1889. The large rear features a symmetrical three-bay west elevation with blind windows in the centre bay on both the ground and first floors, along with symmetrical two-bay fenestration in the north gable. The windows have four and twelve-pane glazing, and the building has a corniced wallhead with end stacks, a slate roof, and a crested tile ridge.
The interior has been recast and contains little of interest.
