Balfreish is a house dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is two storeys high with a three-bay southeast front and features a central door. The exterior is finished with harled pointed rubble and has tooled ashlar dressings. There is a single-storey, two-bay wing at the southwest gable and a much extended single-storey wing at the northeast gable. The front has symmetrical fenestration with 12-pane glazing in the central block and in the outer bays of the rear, which also has small off-centre windows on both the ground and first floors. The side wings have modern enlarged windows, and there is a further modern extension at the southwest. The house has end stacks and slate roofs.
