Description
These are a pair of single-story, three-bay cottages dating from the mid-19th century. They are situated at New Kelso, facing south with their rear elevation overlooking a driveway. The cottages are harled (roughcast) in appearance. The eastern cottage features a corrugated iron gabled porch that obscures the central doorway, along with a single-story kennel wing attached to the east gable. The western cottage has a modern lean-to addition that incorporates a bathroom and serves as an entrance porch, masking the original central doorway. The cottages have corniced end stacks and slate roofs. They are listed for their group value, meaning their significance lies in their collective contribution to the character of the area. The statutory address is New Kelso Driveway Pair Estate Cottages.
