Description
St Joachim's Roman Catholic Church, located on Malcolm Street in Wick, was designed by architect William Robertson from Elgin in collaboration with Father Walter Lovi, and was built between 1833 and 1834. This simple classical church features a harled exterior with three bays that are divided by giant pilasters. The façade includes a pediment with a bull's eye and a moulded architrave above the central door. The north side of the church has six uneven pilastered bays, which are adorned with two broad lunettes that feature intersecting tracery. Inside, the original coved ceiling remains, although the rest of the interior has modern decoration and fittings. The church also has a modern tiled roof that covers a single bay leading to the convent.
