Description

John Rhind 1876-78, snecked rubble with ashlar dressings.

L-plan with 2-storey main block and 1 storey and attic

service block. Entrance front of main block 3-bay with

slightly advanced centre with round-arched doorpiece;

right bay slightly further advanced than centre; all 3

bays gableted; Elizabethan pediments at 1st floor windows;

at right of main block, crenellated 1-storey screen wall

linking to circular tower. At other fronts 1st floor windows

with gableted dormerheads. Bowed corners corbelled to square

just below eaves level. Modern glazed addition at south.

Lavish interior with impressive stairhall. Dining room

walls covered with painted tapestries, copied from

Gobelins tapestries of History of Esther, formerly in Castle

Rosque and cut to fit their present position.
