Description

Bertha’s House is an earlier 19th century single-story, three-bay house with an attic. The walls are harled, and the front (south side) features a modern glazed sun porch that obscures the central doorway. Three piended dormers break the wallhead, and the windows have two panes of glass. Chimneys are located at each end of the building, and the roof is slate.

A store, likely dating from the earlier to mid-19th century, is situated at the rear. It is constructed of red rubble with roughly dressed long and short angle stones and lintels. The store has two wide entrances, and a forestair at the west gable leads to a first-floor door. It features square apex finials and a corrugated asbestos roof.

The house was formerly occupied by a lady named Bertha, and the store was probably used to store fishing gear.
