Royal Bank Of Scotland, 113-115 Buchanan Street, Glasgow

The Royal Bank of Scotland, located at 113-115 Buchanan Street in Glasgow, is a four-storey commercial building designed by A G Sydney Mitchell in 1887, featuring a five-storey octagonal corner with a dormered dome and lantern. The building showcases a Free Renaissance style.

Constructed from ashlar, the facade has two bays facing Buchanan Street and one bay on Gordon Street, set within channelled pilaster strips. The ground floor features arched openings, while the second floor is topped with a single overall pediment. An eaves gallery adorned with red-shafted colonettes leads to a balustraded parapet.

At the corner, there is an open octagonal entrance vestibule with a ribbed vault, angled shafts, and sculpted lunettes. A wrought-iron lamp hangs from a decorative boss, and there are three double iron-work gates with elaborate overthrows. A later entrance and addition have been made on Buchanan Street for the bank.
