7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 John Street in Glasgow is a classical commercial and domestic building dating from around 1840. The structure is currently undergoing extensive renovation, with the interior gutted as of 1988. It stands three stories tall and features nine bays arranged in a pattern of 1-8-1, with the wider end bays being shallowly recessed. The exterior is finished in polished ashlar, which is painted at the ground level.

There are pend entrances at the end bays, with a depressed arch on the right side. The ground floor has shopfronts, with the left one altered and the right one featuring a round arch and glazing. Above the ground floor, the end bays have tripartite windows, while the other bays have single-light windows, all of which are architraved except for the outer bays on the second floor. The inner bays on the first floor are pedimented, and the end bays have cornices. The building was originally fitted with sash and case windows with four-pane glazing, but the original glazing was removed in 1988. There is an eaves band, an eaves cornice, and a parapet over the inner bays.
