Description

64 Partickhill Road in Glasgow is a building dating from around 1795, with additions made around 1845, possibly by architect Charles Wilson. Originally a single house, number 64 has been remodeled to form a short terrace that includes two west-facing houses, with the westernmost house now demolished.

Number 64 features three sets of two bays, constructed of polished ashlar stone, while the rear elevation is made of squared rubble. The windows are sash and case style, primarily with T-pane glazing.

On the southeast elevation, there is a plinth and two symmetrical windows that have pilaster architraves and cornices, each with aprons. Above these, there are pedimented windows that break through the main cornice. The gable is coped and includes a stack.

The east elevation has three bays with a central entrance that is highlighted by a Doric portico featuring a triglyph frieze and a mutule cornice, with flanking windows. The first floor has three regular windows, and there is a main cornice and a blocking course. The roof features two tripartite full dormers and is covered with slate, with an axial stack.

The rear elevation has irregular fenestration and includes windows with 12-pane glazing.

Number 66, adjacent to number 64, also has three bays and is made of droved ashlar stone, which is painted. It features a central canted bay that rises from the ground to the first floor, with pilastered corniced outer bays on the ground floor. The entrance is located in the west bay and consists of a double-leaf panelled door. The first-floor windows in the outer bays have aprons, and there is a cornice, a central dormer, and a slate roof with an axial stack.
