Description

67 Partickhill Road is a pair of symmetrical, semi-detached villas built in 1860. They are two stories tall, with a basement at the rear, and feature a rectangular plan and classical detailing. The villas are constructed from squared, stugged, and coursed cream sandstone, with the entrance elevation painted and ashlar dressings. They have a base course, corniced windows at the ground level with pilaster mullions and reveals, and architraved windows on the first floor of the entrance elevation. A cornice and blocking course complete the exterior.

On the entrance elevation, there are two corniced, pilastered doorways at the center, each featuring a deep-set pilastered doorpiece with a fanlight, two-leaf panelled doors, and a half-glazed vestibule door. Above these doorways, single windows are located on the first floor, while tripartite windows are present in the outer bays at both the ground and first floors.

The rear elevation includes two windows at the center on the basement, ground, and first floors, along with full-height canted windows in the outer bays. The villas primarily feature 4-pane sash and case glazing. The roof is covered with grey slate, with ashlar coped skews and corniced ashlar stacks, although the end stacks are rendered. Number 67 has a small rooflight on the entrance elevation and two flat-roofed dormers at the rear.

Inside, both villas have decorative cornices and doorcases on the ground floor that feature stylised fluted broken pediments with finials. The stone staircases are complemented by iron balustrades and timber handrails.

The boundary walls consist of a low wall with ashlar coping and square-plan piers topped with corniced caps.
