Description

Peddie and Kinnear (Edinburgh), 1873. 4-storey classical commercial building with modern shops at ground floor, 16 x 16 bays. Polished ashlar. All windows sash and case, plate glass. Consoled, pedimented entrance with acroterion and antefixae at No 30 Gordon Street. Ground floor cornice, remains of original shop fronts. Superimposed anta orders above; 1st floor stylised pilastrade with wider angle pilasters on continuous podium. 2nd floor pilastrade continuous podium. 3rd, pilastrade with recessed, 2-light windows with pilaster mullions. Main entablature with cavetto cornice. Splayed, wallhead stack to West Nile

Street. Cornice returns 1 bay to W at northmost bay in West Nile Street. Corniced wallhead stacks to brick return rear elevation.
