Description
Holyrood Secondary Roman Catholic School, located at 70 Dixon Road in Glasgow, was designed by John Burnet, Son and Dick and completed in 1936. The school features a symmetrical layout with a long front facing both Albert Road and Dixon Road, each side adorned with long, small-paned windows and a shallow advanced centerpiece that includes a doorway. The main building is primarily two storeys tall, rising to three storeys along Albert Road, except for the wings. It is constructed of red brick, enhanced by contrasting stone entablature and dressings. The stacks, centerpiece, angles, and piers of the playground walls exhibit channelled detailing, and the tiled roofs appear to be original.
Additionally, there is a detached two-storey janitor's lodge with a pyramidal roof located on Dixon Road. This lodge is similarly detailed to the main school building, although its windows are plate glass sashes.
