Description

  1. Late Gothic/Early Renaissance. Large meeting hall and associated rooms. Snecked ashlar with polished dressings.

Symmetrical facade to Turnbull Street: shallow projecting, wide central bay, outer flanking bays each with depressed arch-headed doors under rounded mouldings and 1 window above. Wide bay: 5 single lights at ground, 1 large 3 light window in shallow corbelled projection above, capped with blind balustrade. Corbelled square turrets at angles.

Crowstepped gable.

Steel Street: 7 bays, bipartites to ground, triple lights to gallery the central light pointed in end bays which have crowstepped gables.

Central door and crowstepped chimney gablet with date 1876. Slate roof.

INTERIOR: Large galleried hall, arcade of iron shafts at the sides with haunched flat arches. Freize with shields and corbels bearing ribs of inserted ceiling. Dentil cornice.
