Gates At Queen Margaret Drive, Botanic Gardens, 703 Great Western Road, Glasgow

The gates at Queen Margaret Drive, located at 703 Great Western Road in Glasgow, were designed by city architect A B McDonald around 1894. They consist of two pairs of gates arranged with a wide central carriageway flanked by narrow pedestrian gateways. The structure features four tall square gatepiers made of banded ashlar and brick, which rise to octagonal domed ashlar caps topped with ball finials on the outer pair. The inner pair of gatepiers support wrought-iron lamp brackets. The elaborate wrought-iron gates display the city arms.

At Kirklee Quadrant, there are two pairs of cast-iron gates accompanied by cast-iron gatepiers. Surrounding the gardens, a low coped ashlar wall supports cast-iron railings. The gates are situated opposite Kibble Palace and Kirklee Gardens, where a tall coped coursed ashlar wall can be found.
