Description

The stable block at Aikenhead House, located on Carmunnock Road in Glasgow, was likely designed by David Hamilton in the early 19th century. It is arranged in a U-shape around a central courtyard, which is enclosed at the south by a gated screen wall. The northern range features a pedimented arched pend that rises significantly above the main eaves level. The classical northern façade includes windows set within panels in the prominent outer pavilions, with blind panels above the ground floor windows in the intermediate bays. The building has small-paned sash windows, a cornice, and a blocking course, constructed from ashlar stone and topped with slate roofs.
