Description
The Cameron Memorial Fountain, located on Woodside Crescent in Glasgow, was designed by architects Clarke and Bell and completed in 1896. This Baroque drinking fountain was erected in memory of Charles Cameron, MP. It features an ogee domed baldacchino with basins at its base and is structured in three main stages. The fountain has a polished Peterhead granite basin and base, while the two upper stages are made of Doulton ware. Four piers with engaged columns support the octagonal upper section and the ogee dome. Elaborately moulded aedicules house a bronze medallion portrait of Cameron, created by Tinworth of London. Additionally, there are clock faces on the upper section oriented towards the cardinal points, topped by an ogee domed roof with a finial.
