Description

Robert Cameron, 1887. 3-stage; square-plan, chamfered at angles; polished pink granite drinking fountain with pedimented niche to each side. Octagonal stone base and semicircular-plan step to each side. Shell-headed niche with cast-iron lion's head waterspout and rounded basin to each side; flanking pilasters rise to consoled broken-bed pediment. Panelled pilaster rising to cornice at pediment level at each angle; fluted console at base. Upper stage (dated 1887) tapered in concave profile; curved panel to each side; angles scrolled at base and apex. Moulded cap at apex with scrolls at angles; surmounted by bronze lion with heraldic shield. Band course to each of lower levels and at base of upper one.
