Description
2-4 Bank Street in Elie is an early 19th-century building that was modified in the later 19th century. It is two storeys high and features harled walls with painted dressings. The margins are stop-chamfered. The gable front facing Bank Street has two windows, and there is a two-window wing to the right, which includes a later pilastered shop with a central door and two tripartite windows. Some detailing is incomplete, and there is a panelled and corbelled stack at the apex of the gable.
On the School Wynd side, the building has two sections. The north end has one window and a one-bay return of the shop on the ground floor, with three windows on the first floor. The south end is stepped lower and features a door, two cellar openings, and two windows on both the ground and first floors. The north end has a slated roof, while the south end is pantiled, with skews and rendered stacks.
