Description

Glenelm, located at 5 Livingstone Lane in Aberdour, is an 18th-century building that has undergone later alterations. Originally a single-storey cottage, it has been transformed into a two-storey, two-bay house with a rectangular plan. The exterior is rendered with stone margins around the openings.

The northeast elevation, facing the street, is asymmetrical, featuring two high-set ground floor windows positioned to the off-centre right and far right, with a small window centered on the first floor.

The northwest elevation is mostly attached to the adjacent building at 6-7 Livingstone Lane. It retains the remains of the original cottage gable at the ground floor far left, with a small first floor window above it.

On the southwest elevation, which faces the garden, there is a door located off-centre to the left, flanked by windows. A single-storey flat-roofed outshot is set flush with the right window. The first floor features enlarged modern windows above the openings below.

The southeast elevation has a ground floor window set high to the right, with the remains of the gable end of the original cottage slightly advanced at shoulder height in the center and left. There is also a small first floor window at the far right.

The building features a modern timber door and various types of windows, including 12-pane timber sash and case, 4-pane timber sash and case, and modern timber casements. The roof is pitched and covered with red clay pantiles, with coped ashlar skews, rendered gable apex stacks, and circular chimney cans.
