Description

The gate piers at West Lodge on Ladybank Road date from around 1780. They are a picturesque pair made of ashlar stone, set back from the road. Each pier is tall and features pyramidal tops that are diagonally placed on stepped bases, with attached half-shafts on the outer faces and moulded entablatures. Curved dwarf walls with a wide crenellated design extend out to connect with a second pair of piers at the roadside. The tall square ashlar piers have moulded cornices and also sport tall pyramidal tops.
