Description
College Gate, located on North Street in St Andrews, was built between 1949 and 1953 by architect J.C. Cunningham, reflecting a Scottish 17th century style with Aberdour details. The building is two stories tall with an attic, constructed from snecked rubble and topped with a slate roof. The front elevation facing the street is asymmetrical, featuring a projecting entrance bay with a crowstepped gable and a circled angle tower at the southwest corner, along with stone dormers. The rear elevation is also asymmetrical, showcasing an octagonal tower with an ogee roof, flanked by three-story sections. In 1972, additions were made to the east side, designed to match the original style.
