Description
Circa 1800. Large single storey and loft U-plan steading block with central tower and tall obelisk spire. Ashlar, polished to north elevation, droved to courtyard elevations. Symmetrical north elevation: 11 bays, central and outer bays taller, broader and advanced; central bay pedimented, round-arched, keystoned pend flanked by blind windows at 2 levels: pilastered octagonal base with clock to 2 faces supports facetted and ball-finialled spire used as dovecot with circular flight holes. Outer bays originally (altered to right), semi-circular, traceried loft windows above. Bays between arcaded to ground floor with round-headed panels; single windows to ground floor and loft, some blind. Cill course to 1st floor, and 3 raised lintels. Cornice and blocking course. Slate roof. Variety of door and window openings and roof pitches to courtyard elevation; modern large central block replaces partly demolished earlier building (not included in listing). Open, circular, conical-roofed horsemill to east.
