Description
The building is a steading at Kinloss House, dated 1834. It is a classical square-plan steading block with a symmetrical classical south elevation featuring nine bays. The structure is made of squared whin-stone with ashlar long and short dressings, while the remainder is rubble-built. The central and outer bays are broader and set forward, showcasing rusticated quoins and Tudor-arched openings. The carriage openings in the outer bays have been altered to windows, and there is a pend below an elliptical panel and a dovecot in the taller, pedimented central bay. The three linking bays between these have central doors, a single altered bipartite window, and three six-pane loft windows. The building also features an eaves/lintel course, a cornice, and a piended slate roof. Inside the courtyard, there is a variety of door and window openings, as well as one stone forestair. The west block has a corrugated iron roof.
