Description

Built 1770; entrance raised and interior plasterwork added 1800. Symmetrical classical mansion house; 2 storeys over raised basement. Coursed whin rubble, with yellow ashlar long and short dressings. South elevation: 6 bays, central pedimented doorpiece with sidelights occupying 2 bays, 4 engaged Roman Doric columns and tall round-arched fanlight breaking into pediment: approached by broad curving stone

stair. With simple splayed cast-iron hand rail. 12-pane sashes throughout. Band course at ground floor level; mutule cornice; 2 piended and canted dormers, bold shouldered end stacks and steep-pitched piended and platform slated roof. 3 bays to east and west elevations, latter with door opening onto platform with decorative cast-iron balusters. Central wall-head pediment to north elevation, with tall central

stair window.

INTERIOR: some decorative plasterwork, with swag and fan decoration over curved stair; ceiling roses, elliptical in west ground floor room with swagged detail; cornice in porch has simple fan decoration.
