Description
Temple Knowe Garden House, built between 1761 and 1766, is a hexagonal single-storey structure. The front is finished in dressed ashlar, while the flanks are made of droved ashlar, and the north face is constructed from rubble. It features an arched door on the south side, which has voussoirs and a thin belt at the eaves. There was a former door on the northwest side that had an external stair, but this was removed in the mid-20th century. A window on the southeast side has long been blocked. The building has a later flat roof covered with asbestos. Inside, there is a stone-paved floor and wooden seating on five sides, although some of this seating has been partly removed. The house is accessed by steps from the north terrace, which includes bee-boles.
