Description

Wester Bogie Farmhouse is a traditional farmhouse built in the earlier to mid 19th century. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure with an L-shaped plan and features a pilastered doorcase. The exterior is made of coursed, roughly squared and snecked rubble, accented with contrasting stugged ashlar quoins and raised margins, along with base and eaves courses.

The south elevation is symmetrical, featuring a deep-set, studded timber door with a plate glass fanlight at the center, flanked by windows in the adjacent bays, and regular fenestration near the eaves on the first floor.

On the east elevation, there is a gabled bay to the left with a window on each floor, and a slightly recessed single-storey bay on the outer right with another window.

The west elevation has a gabled bay to the right of center, with a window on the left at each floor, and a slightly lower bay to the left that contains two windows on each floor.

The north elevation features a gabled bay to the right of center, with a window to the right at ground level and two windows above on the return to the right. To the left, there is a recessed face with a window on the first floor and a lean-to single-storey bay that has a door to the right and two windows to the left.

The windows have modern timber frames with plate glass glazing, and the roof is covered with graded grey slates. The building has ashlar-coped skews and cavetto-coped ashlar stacks with some cans and thackstanes.

Inside, there are decorative cornices, panelled shutters, and dadoes, along with a marble fireplace in the southeast sitting room.
