Description
2, 4, 6, 8 Fitzroy Street in Dysart is a later to late 19th century, two-storey, eight-bay irregular tenement featuring crowsteps and pantiles. The building is constructed from squared and snecked rubble with ashlar quoins and is harled on the north side. It has a deep base course and eaves course, with architraved surrounds and basket-arched doors.
On the west elevation facing Fitzroy Street, there are three bays to the left of center, which include a part-glazed timber door with a fanlight in the center and windows in the flanking bays. The first floor has regular fenestration. The three central bays mirror this arrangement, with a slightly advanced gable on the outer right that has two windows on each floor and a moulded panel in the gablehead. The outer right corner features a rounded angle that is corbelled to a square at the first floor.
The south elevation facing High Street has three windows on both the ground and first floors, with the center bay on the ground floor converted from a door. The windows have a 12-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with clay pantiles, and there are coped squared rubble stacks with cans, along with ashlar crowsteps featuring beak skewputts.
