Description
1, 2 and 3 Craigkennochie Terrace in Burntisland is a single-storey house with an attic and a raised basement at the rear, built in 1903. It has a three-bay rectangular plan and is situated on a slope that falls to the north. The exterior is finished in polished ashlar with rubble on the sides and rear, featuring long and short quoins and stone mullions.
The south elevation is symmetrical, showcasing a deep-set panelled timber door with a plate glass fanlight in a moulded doorcase at the center, topped by a flat-roofed timber tripartite dormer window. Flanking this are slightly advanced gabled bays with canted windows at the ground level, complete with an eaves cornice and blocking course, and a gablehead window above.
The north elevation is irregular with three bays, featuring a stair window at the center and six small rooflights. The west elevation includes a stone stair leading to a timber door on the outer left and a window to the right, along with an off-centre gablehead window.
The windows throughout the building feature a 4-, 12-, and 18-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case style. The timber dormer has small pane upper sashes and plate glass lower sashes, while there is an aluminium window at the ground rear. The roof is covered in grey slates, with ashlar coped skews that have moulded skewputts and finials, and coped ashlar stacks with some polygonal cans.
Inside No. 1, there is an inner hall that features a two-leaf part-glazed timber screen door and a glazed fanlight, along with decorative cornicing, a rose, and a marble fireplace.
