Description
The Well-Head Stone at Craigkennochie Terrace in Burntisland dates from 1803. It is a commemorative upright square panel made of ashlar stone, featuring chamfered margins. This panel is set into the remains of a rubble wall and is enclosed by a semicircular coped rubble wall, which originally had railings.
The inscription on the stone reads: "This water brought in leaden-pipes from The Bank Well Under the patronage and direction of the Magistrates and Council of Burntisland," followed by a list of names: Pitcairn, Hutchison, Orrock, Cheap, Haxton, and Wemyss.
