Description
The farmhouse, built in the early 19th century, was later extended in the mid-19th century to create a T-shaped plan. It originally consisted of two storeys and three bays, with its west-facing front. A large, two-storey wing was added to the west front in the mid-19th century, and the west gable features bipartite windows. The farmhouse is harled with ashlar dressings, and has straight skews – the south-west skew includes kneelers. It has rectangular corniced stacks and a slated roof. A walled garden adjoins the house to the south, constructed of rubble with a flagged cope.
To the north of the farmhouse, and connected by a rubble wall with a brick cope, is a cottage dating from the mid-19th century. This is a single-storey building, constructed of rubble with ashlar dressings, and has a pantiled roof, straight skews, and coped end-stacks. There is a pantiled outshot to the west.
The steading, built in the earlier and mid-19th century, comprises three ranges arranged around a courtyard, the west side of which is closed by the farmhouse. The south and east ranges are single-storey with a loft above. They have gable ends with ashlar dressings, with pantiled roofs including catslide and piended roofs over the loft doors. There are three segmental-headed cart sheds at the north end of the east range. An octagonal pantiled horse-mill is located behind the east range. The north range features four parallel sheds fronting the courtyard, three with broad-piended pantiled roofs and one narrower gabled shed. A long single-storey pantiled range links these sheds to the rear and extends eastwards.
