Description

Wormiston House is a building with its origins in the 17th century, featuring a rectangular shape that runs north to south. The original block is three stories high and has crowstepped gables with twin circular attic windows. The northeast wing may date from the same period or slightly later, while a low two-story wing at the south gable is from the late 17th or early 18th century, also featuring a circular attic window and crowstepped gable.

The house was extended in 1802, with the northeast wing being doubled in both length and width on the south side. It underwent further remodeling and extension in 1858, which included the addition of a crowstepped porch, a southeast gable, and a corbelled turret in the re-entrant angle of the 1802 work. An asymmetrical west wing was added, featuring a three-story crenellated tower. The building incorporates old domerheads, one of which is dated 1629. The exterior is harled with margins and has a slated roof.
