Description
The churchyard of Crail Parish Church features rubble-built enclosing walls that include impressive mural monuments from the 16th century and later. Notable monuments include the gable front of James Lumsden of Airdrie, who died in 1598, which is adorned with colonnettes and broached spires. There is also a niche with an effigy for William Bruce of Symbister, who died in 1630, flanked by sculptured plasters. Other significant monuments include the baroque memorials for George Moncrieff of Sauchope, who died in 1707, and Wood of Sauchope, who died in 1723, along with the enclosure for Lindesay of Wormistone. Additionally, there is a war memorial on the site. The gates were added in 1921.
