Description

4 Hope Cottages in Muirhouses, Bo'Ness, were built around 1874 and consist of a pair of symmetrical single-storey cottages designed in the cottage orné style. The cottages are primarily constructed from squared and snecked tooled sandstone and feature overhanging eaves and droved chamfered openings.

The south elevation has four bays with low recessed wings on both the left and right sides. There is a prominent modern double box dormer addition on No 3. The cottages no longer have their original leaded lattice glazing and are covered with graded grey slates. The entrance doors to Nos 3 and 4 are timber boarded, and a central ridge stack indicates the division between the two cottages.

The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 2003.
