Description
1 Hope Cottages in Muirhouses, Bo'Ness, dates from around 1870 and consists of a pair of symmetrical single-storey terraced cottages designed in the cottage orné style. The cottages are mainly constructed of squared and snecked tooled sandstone and feature overhanging eaves and droved chamfered openings.
The principal elevation has four bays with low recessed wings on both the left and right sides. There is no original leaded lattice glazing remaining, as all the windows have been replaced with modern glazing. The entrance doors are timber boarded, and a ridge stack marks the division between the two cottages, topped with graded grey slates.
The interiors of both cottages, numbered 1 and 2, have been modernised.
