Description
Fereneze Golf Club House, built around 1765, is a 3-storey, 3-bay Classical house with a roughly T-shaped plan. It features a distinctive castellated parapet on the predominantly 2-storey rear section. There is a later flat-roofed extension to the northeast, which now serves as the golf clubhouse, added in 2013. The exterior is finished in painted render with contrasting painted margins, including raised margins, a base course, and an eaves course, along with overhanging eaves. The central section at the rear is 3-storey, with an additional 2-storey section. There is also a later 2-storey extension adjoining to the west.
On the principal south elevation, there is a central Doric doorpiece with a non-traditional part-glazed entrance door and a fanlight above. The flanking window openings include one on the left that has been enlarged.
Internally, the building has been largely altered to accommodate club facilities, with later timber panelling added. The windows are predominantly 6-over-6 pane timber sash and case, with some plate glass timber sash and case windows on the south side. The main building has a piended roof, while the rear section has a flat roof, both covered with grey slates. The building features corniced wallhead stacks with hexagonal stone cans and decorative pots.
