Description

Samuelston Bridge is a late 18th century single span bridge that crosses the River Tyne, oriented east to west. It has an approximate span of 55 feet and is constructed from squared and snecked rubble, featuring droved ashlar dressings and a soffit. The bridge includes rock-faced voussoirs, piers, and a keystone, with a band course running parallel to the parapet. The design features an angled crown and splayed widening at the abutments, which taper to drum piers.
