Whittingehame Tower Cottage

Whittingehame Tower Cottage is a late 19th century, 2-storey symmetrical pair of estate cottages that have been converted into one dwelling, with alterations made around 1910. The building is constructed of squared and snecked red sandstone and features stone mullions.

The southeast elevation has five bays, with a small window at the center and a small bipartite window above it. There are doorways on either side, each with small-pane upper panels. The outer bays have bipartite windows at the ground floor, and the first floor features boat-shaped dormerheads that date from around 1910.

On the northwest elevation, there are two advanced bays at the center, topped with an M-shaped gable. This elevation also has bipartite windows at both the ground and first floors, with a string course dividing the two levels. Each of the outer bays has a small window at the ground floor.

The end elevations have small first floor windows flanking a stack that is raised at that level, and there is moulded coping on the double gatehead stacks. A pentice-roofed outbuilding is attached to the southwest end elevation. The windows throughout include plate glass sash and case windows as well as small-pane casements, and the roof is covered with grey slates, featuring skylights on the south pitch.
