Description
The Gate Lodge at Smeaton House, built around 1790, is a single-storey, T-plan structure that served as the entrance to the now-demolished Smeaton-Hepburn House. It is constructed from cream ashlar and features a base course and a moulded eaves course. The entrance is located in a bow-fronted gabled wing, which includes a bowed French window that is panelled at the base. There are windows on each return elevation, each topped with a consoled cornice. Additionally, there is a window on each piend-roofed wing, also featuring a consoled cornice. A modern extension has been added to the north. The roof is covered with grey slates and has a corniced ridge stack.
