Description
West Fenton is a 2-storey farmhouse that features a later 18th century gabled block with a substantial piend-roof addition to the south, dating from the earlier 19th century. The exterior is harled with painted margins and has a raised base course on the west side.
The earlier house has gables on the east and west elevations, with windows and a stack on the west gable that have been rebuilt with the later house. The north side has irregular and altered openings. There is a pentice-roofed outbuilding adjoining the east gable.
The later house has a pilastered doorpiece on the west elevation and a large flanking window on the ground floor. The south elevation is three bays wide, featuring three first-floor windows grouped centrally, with two ground floor windows in the outer bays, one of which has been altered to a doorway on the left side. The sash and case windows have a 12-pane glazing pattern. The later house has coped ashlar end stacks and a slate roof.
Inside, there are panelled window shutters and a winding stone stair. There is also a retaining wall to the east.
