Description
This is an earlier to mid-19th century gate lodge, built in an L-shape. It is constructed from stone that has been roughly squared and cut, with dressed ashlar stone details.
The north elevation has three bays. The bay on the right is gabled and projects forward, featuring a window and an arrow-shaped ventilator at the gable apex. A doorway is located centrally, set back at the angle where the lodge wings meet, with a panelled door. There is a window in the projecting bay. The east-facing gabled return elevation has a timber mullioned window divided into two lights.
The west elevation features a projecting gabled bay on the left with a window positioned slightly off-centre. A small window is located near the re-entrant angle of the rear wing. Most windows are sash and case style with six panes of glass, found on the north and west sides. The roof is covered in grey slates with overhanging eaves supported by timber brackets. The ends of the roof have corniced ashlar stacks.
Square, corniced ashlar gate piers stand at the entrance (one was displaced in 1988), and are accompanied by semi-circular, coped rubble retaining walls.
The lodge is associated with Eaglescairnie House which is listed separately.
