North Lodge, Herdmanflat Hospital, Aberlady Road, Haddington

North Lodge at Herdmanflat Hospital, built around 1860 by Peddie & Kinnear, is a single-storey, four-bay gabled lodge. It features squared and snecked rubble with stugged ashlar dressings, along with base and eaves courses. The entrance elevation on the southeast side has a panelled timber door located in the bay to the right of the centre, accompanied by a bipartite window to the outer right. To the left, there is a slightly advanced gabled bay with a flat-roofed canted window beneath a deep blocking course, and another bipartite window to the outer left. The northeast elevation is a blank gabled wall.

The lodge has 8- and 12-pane glazing patterns in timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks. The skews are also ashlar-coped, featuring moulded skewputts and finials. Additionally, cast-iron downpipes with decorative fixings are present.
