Ancillary Building, Herdmanflat Hospital, Aderlady Road, Haddington

The ancillary building at Herdmanflat Hospital, designed by Peddie & Kinnear around 1860, is a single-storey structure with a rectangular plan and eight bays. It is constructed of squared rubble with contrasting ashlar dressings, featuring chamfered arrises and raked cills.

On the northwest elevation, there is a lower recessed bay with a window on the outer left, and eight large windows grouped toward the left, with the seventh bay possibly serving as a door. The northeast elevation is a blank gabled wall.

The building has timber sash and case windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks along with ashlar-coped skews that include moulded skewputts.
