Description
The Sports Pavilion at Loretto School in Newfield, Musselburgh, was built in 1913 by Robert Lorimer. This single-storey building features a piended slate roof and harled main walls with a coursed rubble base. The pavilion is rectangular in shape and has symmetrical wing roofs supported by square timber posts, which create a verandah with glazed end screens over a raised platform.
There are wide inset central steps leading up to a flat-roofed porch that spans between the wings, providing shelter for the entrance. Above the entrance is a central piended dormer. The entrance is flanked by two windows on each side, all of which have small panes. At the center of the main ridge, there is a tall, square timber and lead clock cupola topped with a domical roof and a weather vane.
